Same weekend, different holiday
The dates line up and the reasons do not
6–8 March is a long weekend in VIC, SA, TAS and the ACT — but not for the same public holidays: VIC for Labour Day; SA for Adelaide Cup Day; TAS for Eight Hours Day; the ACT for Canberra Day.
26–29 March is a long weekend in every state and territory — but not for the same public holidays: NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, the ACT and the NT for Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday; WA for Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday; TAS for Good Friday and Easter Monday. (Queensland's Act calls the Saturday "the day after Good Friday" and Victoria's "the Saturday before Easter Sunday".)
It matters more than a trivia note. A national employer running one roster across those states is covering different public holidays on the same calendar days, and the penalty rates follow the holiday, not the date.
Long weekends only part of a state gets
The table above answers for whole states, because a holiday that covers one district is not a state's long weekend. But it is still a long weekend for the people it covers — and in March 2027 there is one.

Public holidays in March that make no long weekend
A public holiday only makes a long weekend when it lands beside one. This is the one that does not in March 2027 — the answer to "but we have a holiday that month".
- King Island Show, Tuesday 2 March — TAS. A Tuesday leaves a working day between it and the weekend either side. It covers only the municipal area of King Island.
