24–26 April is a long weekend in NSW, QLD, WA, the ACT and the NT — but not for the same public holidays: NSW and WA for Anzac Day and the additional public holiday for Anzac Day; QLD and the NT for Anzac Day; the ACT for Additional public holiday for Anzac Day and Anzac Day.
It matters more than a trivia note. A national employer running one roster across those states is covering different public holidays on the same calendar days, and the penalty rates follow the holiday, not the date.
Public holidays in April that make no long weekend
A public holiday only makes a long weekend when it lands beside one. This is the one that does not in April 2027 — the answer to "but we have a holiday that month".
- Anzac Day, Sunday 25 April — VIC, SA and TAS. It falls on a weekend, and no weekday is added for it there.
